The Center's research faculty and associates include:

Tom Schneeweis, (Ph.D.,Iowa 1977) is Director of CISDM and Professor of Finance at UMASS. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Finance, JFQA, and Journal of Futures Markets. He is also co-author of a textbook on financial futures. He has been a Fulbright Research Fellow in France. He is on the editorial board of several national and international finance journals. Professor Schneeweis research interests are in derivative markets especially managed futures/hedge funds and price behavior of derivative markets.

Hossein Kazemi, (Ph.D., University of Michigan 1986) is an Associate Director of CISDM and Associate Professor at UMASS. He has published widely in journals such as Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Finance and JFQA. His recent research focuses on performance measurement.

George Martin, (Ph.D. Candidate, University of Paris-Dauphine) is Associate Director of CISDM. His research interests include the Private Placement Market, Equity and Fixed Income Derivatives, Managed Funds, Financial Markets Regulation, Asset Pricing Theory, International Economics, and Quantitative Methods.

Richard Spurgin, (Ph.D. University of Massachusetts 1995) is an Associate Director of CISDM and Associate Professor of Finance at Clark University. His principal research interest is the contribution of active management to an investment portfolio. He has published in the areas of managed futures, hedge fund, and trading models in journals such as the Journal of Futures Markets, Journal of Derivatives, and Derivatives Quarterly.

Kathryn Wilkens (Ph.D. University of Massachusetts 1998) is a Research Associate at CISDM and Director of Curriculum at the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association. Her primary research interest is in the bases of relative performance among alternative investment strategies. She has published several articles in the Journal of Alternative Investments.

Nelson Lacey, (Ph.D., Penn State 1985) is Coordinator of the U.S. Consortium of Management of Education in Central and Eastern Europe and Chairman of the Finance and Operations Management Department at UMASS. His research interests include insurance and valuation issues in emerging markets. He is also the Director of Examinations at the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) Association.

Nikunj Kapadia, (Ph.D. New York University, 1995). Professor Kapadia is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the School of Management at the UMASS. He worked for the option trading group of Bear Sterns and his research interests are centered on option and derivative securities.

Mila Getmansky Sherman, (Ph.D., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2004) is an Assistant Professor of Finance at UMASS. Her research interests are Empirical Asset Pricing, Hedge Funds, Mutual Funds, Financial Institutions, Investments, Options, Financial Econometrics, System Dynamics, Liquidity, and Financial Crises.

Bing Liang, (Ph.D., University of Iowa, 1995) is an Associate Professor of Finance at UMASS. His primary research interest is Capital market efficiency Hedge funds and mutual funds Empirical methods in finance.
